Short Biography

Dr. Johana Kambo is a Senior Lecturer and Dean of the School of Law at the University of Embu, with over ten years of distinguished experience in teaching, research, academic leadership, and policy-oriented consultancy in labour law, social protection, and human rights. He holds a Doctor of Laws (LLD) in Mercantile Law (Labour Law specialisation), a Master of Laws (LLM) in Labour Law (Dissertation: First Class), and an LLB from Nelson Mandela University, South Africa, as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Labour Law Practice from the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

He is a professional member of the African Labour Law Society and serves as an Extraordinary Research Fellow at North-West University and a Labour Law Research Associate at Nelson Mandela University. Dr. Kambo has extensive expertise in international and comparative labour law, labour dispute resolution, labour migration, and the protection of vulnerable workers.

He has supervised over 25 Master of Laws (LLM) students to completion and is currently supervising three doctoral (LLD) students in labour law. He serves as an external examiner, peer reviewer for leading academic journals and has done consultancy with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), contributing to research on land governance, climate change and social protection. His academic and professional work reflects a strong commitment to advancing labour rights, promoting social justice and influencing policy development at national and international levels.
