Florence Waruguru is a Teaching Fellow at the University of Embu School of Law and a PhD candidate at Sussex Law School, specializing in Criminal Law. She holds an LLM in Human Rights Law from Birkbeck, University of London, and an LLB from Moi University. Her teaching, research, and supervisory expertise centers on Criminal Law, Human Rights Law, Gender and Sexuality within the criminal justice system, victimization reporting among male inmates, and the role of consent in criminal law contexts. In addition to her academic role, Florence has served as a Doctoral Tutor at Sussex University and as an Associate Partner at Fatuma Wanjiku & Co. Advocates in Kenya. Her scholarly work focuses on the intersection of gender, sexuality, and criminal justice, with particular attention to human rights within the criminal justice system. She remains committed to advancing legal education, research, and advocacy that addresses systemic challenges in criminal justice, victimization, and consent frameworks in Kenya and beyond.
